B&F: 1893
ABH: 70.214
Status: Resident.
Distribution
and Abundance: Common.
Primary Habitat: Woodland.
Flight Period: Single
brooded from June to August.
Observations: The
species has increased along with the planting of conifers
throughout the county and is almost certainly under
recorded. Returns from the Fineshade Rothamsted
light trap running in woodland for seven years during the
1990s produced a total of forty-four moths, seven
of which were of the melanic form nigrofulvata, with
an overall flight period from 19 June to 11 August.
Although there are instances of moths being seen in May
and September these seem to be exceptional.
L.O.N.: Undated.
Castle Ashby.
First Record: 1882,
Hull & Tomalin.
