  Latticed Heath Chiasmia clathrata

B&F: 1894

ABH: 70.218

Status: Resident.

Distribution and Abundance: Common.

Primary Habitat:  Grassland.

Flight Period:  Double brooded in May and June and again in August and September.

Observations: Primarily a day flying species that occasionally turns up at m.v. light. Its consequential inclusion in light trap returns has doubtless increased its known distribution within the county. Despite this it is still an under recorded species and certainly more widespread than records suggest. A rare abberation, called ab. alboguttata has been found a few times in the Vice County and is depicted below the normal specimen opposite.

L.O.N.: 1906. Local. Barnwell Wold, Castor Hanglands, Yardley Chase, Weedon.

First Record: 1842, Clark.
