B&F: 1897
ABH: 70.215
Status: Unknown.
Distribution and Abundance: Rare - no modern records
Primary Habitat: Gardens.
Flight Period: Single
brooded in July and August.
Records: 1991
Old Pastures (G. Higgs), 18 July 1999 Kettering garden
(J. Ward), 27 July 1991 Brigstock (M. Smith) and 17 July
1984 Helpston garden (M. Hillier).
Observations: Although
not greatly attracted to light the species has
progressively declined in abundance since Walliss
comments below. In the 1920s, 1930s and
1940s it was seen almost annually in Kettering. In
the early 1950s an annual average of five moths
were taken at an m.v. light trap running in a
Wellingborough garden. Despite looking for the species on
the food plants, currant and gooseberry, in my own rural
garden in Kettering over the last decade I have only seen
a single moth which was taken at light on 18 July 1999.
L.O.N.: 1907.
Many localities. Common.
First Record: 1882,
Hull & Tomalin.
