Distribution and
Abundance: Common.
Primary
Habitat: Woodland.
Flight
Period: Single brooded in May and June.
Observations: The
melanic ab. nigra and black-brown forms occur, but
only seem to have been noted in towns. These are fairly
common in Northampton and uncommon elsewhere. Rothamsted
light trap results from Fineshade for the years 1993-2000
show forty moths recorded, all of the typical form.
