Status: Resident.

Distribution and Abundance: Common.

Primary Habitat: Woodland.

Flight Period: Single brooded from June to August.

Observations: Whilst searching for caterpillars with lamps at night in the spring I have found this species to be particularly plentiful feeding on a wide range of shrubs and trees. The following returns from the Pitsford Water static m.v. light traps show considerable variation in abundance in annual catches over the past five years:- 1999-72, 2000-86, 2001-59, 2002-90 and 2003-204.

L.O.N.: 1907. Many localities. Very common in woods.
