Last Record: Whittlebury Forest, last record 25 July
- 4 August 1905 Ketton, Warkton (E. Wallis).
Observations: The
presence of the moth is dependant upon a greater growth
of lichen than the county now supports. In his
introduction to, The Lepidoptera of
Northamptonshire in 1908, Wallis commented as
follows, In spite of the great extent of woodland
in the county the list of lichen feeders is small, but to
anyone familiar with the New Forest this is not
surprising, as the absence of free-growing lichens in our
woods compared with those of Hampshire is very striking,
and we cannot look for a large extension in this
direction.
