Status: Resident.

Distribution and Abundance: Common.

Primary Habitat: Woodland

Flight Period: Single brooded from May to July.

Observations: Results from the static Pitsford Reservoir m.v. light traps for the five years to 2003 show an annual overall total of eighty moths recorded. The division of records between the flight season is as follows: May 14, June 52 and July 14. At a B.E.N.H.S. meeting on 5 June 2004 at Glapthorne Cow Pasture seventy-six examples of the moth were attracted to seven m.v. lights. The site is well endowed with large old blackthorns and hawthorns which are amongst the known food plants of the caterpillar.
