  Black-veined Moth Siona lineata

B&F: 1966

ABH: 70.291

Status: Former resident.

Record: 16 June 1859 near Oundle (Rev. W. Whall).

Observations: The record above appears in the Entomologist’s Weekly Intelligencer for 1859, vol. 6, p.115, and is taken from an article by the Reverand Whall whose address is given as Thurning Rectory, near Oundle. This ties in with the note on the V.C.H. below made by the writer Herbert Goss the full text of which is as follows:-  “Mr. T. H. Briggs used to take it between Thurning and Clapton.” I think that Clapton should read Clopton. It appears that T. H. Briggs was actively working the county from the mid 1860’s effectively updating the first record by a few years.

L.O.N.: Undated. Thurning (T. H. Briggs). Vict. Hist.

First Record: 1859, Whall.
