Status:  Resident.

Distribution and Abundance:  Common.

Primary Habitat:  Woodland.

Flight Period:  Usually double brooded from May to August.

Observations:  The county’s most common Hawk-moth. Both broods were extremely numerous in actinic light traps left under poplars at Grafton Park Wood in 1974. Over the years I have seen two bilateral gynandromorphs in the county.
