Status: Resident.

Distribution and Abundance: Common.

Primary Habitat: General occurrence.

Flight Period: Double brooded in May and August.

Observations: Although the moth was not taken in the Fineshade Rothamsted light trap in the 1990’s it was common in the Pitsford Water light traps for the five years to 2003 with forty-two first brood and seventy-six second brood moths being seen over the years. The overall flight period was from April to September. In the past I have found the caterpillar of the species easily by searching small willows, poplars and aspens.
