Distribution and Abundance: Local

Primary Habitat: Woodland.

Flight Period:  Single brooded in June and July.

Records: 22 June 2003 Pitsford Reservoir (P. Horsnail), 9 June 2005 Ring Haw (R. Follows), 3 July 1993 Longthorpe (W. Pugh) and 30 June 2010 Easton Hornstocks (J. Skinner).

Observations: Formerly the species was known to occur at Bedford Purlieus where it was last seen in 1975. Although both of singletons the 2005 record from Ring Haw and the 2010 Easton Hornstocks record appear to confirm that it is still present at low density in the county’s north eastern woodlands. The 2003 Pitsford record was repeated in 2010 along with records from Wellingborough and Northampton, suggesting that the species could be spreading its range.
