  Four-dotted Footman Cybosia mesomella

B&F: 2040

ABH: 72.038

Status: Resident.

Distribution and Abundance: Local.

Primary Habitat: Woodland.

Flight Period: Single brooded in June and July.

Localities: Hazelborough Forest, Weldon Park, Ashton Wold and Easton on the Hill.

Observations: My own field records show that I have seen this moth annually for the last two decades, almost always in small numbers at light. The most plentifully that I have seen it is on 4 June 1992 in a replanted woodland on the former Cherry Hall quarry adjoining Barford Meadows. On this occasion there was a strong dusk flight and subsequently some twenty moths came to light. The yellow form ab. flava appears to be uncommon in Northamptonshire.

L.O.N.: Undated. Peterborough.

First Record: 1898
