Status: Resident.

Distribution and Abundance: Common.

Primary Habitat: Woodland.

Flight Period: Single brooded from June to August.

Observations: Useful detail on the flight period and abundance of the moth is provided by the Fineshade Rothamsted trap running in woodland. Viz:-

The moth is often plentiful in gardens as a result of the caterpillar feeding on the foliage of fruit trees.

L.O.N.: 1907. Many localities. Never very common.
