  Square-spot Dart Euxoa obelisca

B&F: 2080

ABH: 73.312

Status: Unknown.

Records: 1882 Northampton (W. Hull & H. Tomalin), August 1890 Burton Latimer (E. Wallis) and 21 July 1946 Wellingborough (J. Payne).

Observations: The 1890 moth is described as having been found, “Amongst refuse below a bats’ nest.” Although Barrett (1896) mentions a number of inland sites for this species and it has been reliably recorded inland recently, to my mind there is a distinct possibility that these records are misidentifications of the White-line Dart (E. tritici).

L.O.N.: 1890. Burton Latimer. Once only.

First Record: 1882, Hull & Tomalin.
