Observations: The
first Northamptonshire record for the species was of a
dead moth found in the radiator grill of my car. As I was
obliged to spend a great deal of time looking under the
bonnet of this particular vehicle I was able to deduce
from where the moth had originated. Within a few years
the species was common in the county and I used to see
several in an evening feeding at my garden buddleias.
This continued until 1991 when it then became much less
frequent with most subsequent years producing no
sightings.
