Status: Resident.

Distribution and Abundance: Very common.

Primary Habitat: General occurrence.

Flight Period: Single brooded from July to October.

Observations: The moth has a long flight period sometimes emerging in June, usually peaking in August and remaining on the wing into October, thereby producing high numbers annually. Detailed records from the Pitsford Water light trap for the year 2000 are as follows:-
First record 5 July, last record 7 October.
Numbers of moths recorded, July - 26, August - 113, September - 78 and October - 6.
Whilst running m.v. lights around the county I have found the caterpillar quite commonly at night in the spring feeding on the opening leaves of hawthorn
