Status: Resident.

Distribution and Abundance: Very common.

Primary Habitat: General occurrence.

Flight Period: Single brooded in July and August.

Observations: The moth is recorded in large numbers annually at the Pitsford Water light traps. For the years 2000 to 2003 the average yearly total was 369 moths with an overall flight period from 17 July to 7 September. In addition to its abundance at light along with its congeners the Large and Lesser Yellow Underwings (N. pronuba and N. comes) this species can also be seen commonly feeding at garden buddleias.

Confusion Species: Langmaid's Yellow Underwing.
