Status: Resident.

Distribution and Abundance: Common.

Primary Habitat: Woodland.

Flight Period: Single brooded in June and July.

Observations: The moth was common at the Pitsford Water m.v. light traps over the three years from 1999 to 2001 with an annual average of 158 moths being recorded. Of these 86% were seen in July. The trap running in the woodland accounted for 73% of the moths the remainder being taken in the trap operating near to the waters edge some 150 metres away. 2009 was an exceptionally good year with 436 moths recorded 77% of which were in July and some 75% were taken in the woodland trap.

Confusion Species: Square-spotted Clay, Triple-spotted Clay
