Distribution
and Abundance: Common.
Primary Habitat: Woodland.
Flight Period: Single
brooded from May to July.
Observations: It is stated
in literature that there is an occasional small second brood of this
moth in southern England. The only possible instances of this occurring
in Northamptonshire that I have been able to trace are two records
from Wellingborough on 28 August 1951 and 19 August 1952.
Confusion Species: Beautiful

Several localities. Often common at sugar and flowers of
Silene.
