  Dog's Tooth Lacanobia suasa

B&F: 2159

ABH: 73.266

Status: Resident.

Distribution and Abundance: Local.

Primary Habitat: Wetland.

Flight Period: Mainly single brooded in June and July.

Localities: Kingsthorpe, Ditchford Lakes, Boughton Park and Fletton.

Observations: The species is probably more widespread in wetland than the mapping suggests. Almost always seen in small numbers in the county it was rather more plentiful than usual in 1987 at Helpston when five were recorded in a garden light trap in June and July. Amongst old records the most significant catch was taken in 1952 in a garden m.v. light trap in Wellingborough when ten moths were seen from 10 May to 26 August. As the last record was of a fresh female moth it is apparent that a second brood occurred in 1952 at least.

L.O.N.: 1906. Wadenhoe, Barnwell, Yardley Chase, Weedon. Local.

First Record: 1906, Kenyon.
