  The Lychnis Hadena bicruris

B&F: 2173

ABH: 73.281

Status: Resident.

Distribution and Abundance: Common.

Primary Habitat: General occurrence.

Flight Period: Double brooded from May to July with a partial second brood in August and September.

Observations: Both historical and recent records suggest that the partial second generation does not occur in every year in the county. A detailed analysis of returns from the Pitsford Water light traps for the five years from 1999 to 2003 suggest that the moth was single brooded in three of the years with second brood moths being noted in the remaining two years. The moth feeds at garden buddleia and honeysuckle.

Confusion Species: Campion

L.O.N.: 1906. Wadenhoe, Sywell. Not common.
