Status: Resident.

Distribution and Abundance: Common.

Primary Habitat: Woodland.

Flight Period: Single brooded in March and April.

Observations: The species can be very common as shown by a catch of some 500 examples of the moth was taken on 16 March 1991 at Geddington Chase by five actinic light traps left overnight under oak. A single melanic, ab. haggarti was recorded in the catch and this remains the only major variety of the species that I have seen in the county, despite many large catches in the same and other localities.
