  Hebrew Character Orthosia gothica

B&F: 2190

ABH: 73.249

Status: Resident.

Distribution and Abundance: Very common.

Primary Habitat: Woodland.

Flight Period: Single brooded in March and April, occasionally seen in January and persisting into June.

Observations: Abundant at actinic light traps left overnight in Grafton Park Wood in the early 1970’s with around 200 regularly recorded in a single trap. Although still seen in large numbers it does not seem to be quite as plentiful nowadays. Gothicina forms are rare in the county; personally I have only seen one example thirty years ago.

First Record: 1882, Hull & Tomalin.
