  The Delicate Mythimna vitellina

B&F: 2195

ABH: 73.295

Status: Migrant.

Distribution and Abundance: Irregular.

Records: 7 September 2005 Greatworth (T. Stokes), 17 September 2000 Northampton (P. Sharpe), 2 October 2006 Sywell Country Park (D. Larkin) and 23 September 2006 Woodnewton (N. Smith).

Observations: Up to the year 2005 only three records of this moth existed in the county but in the high migration year of 2006 twenty-eight examples of the species were recorded greatly increasing the mapped distribution. In 2007 far fewer moths were seen, but in two localities they were recorded both in June and October opening up the possibility that the species is breeding locally. At this stage it is not possible to comment precisely on the annual distribution and abundance of the moth in the county. No moths were recorded in the county in 2008 or 2009.

First Record: 1992, Tebbutt.
