B&F: 2214
ABH: 73.053
Status: Resident.
Distribution and Abundance: Local.
Primary Habitat: Waste
ground.
Flight Period: Single
brooded in April and May.
Localities: Salcey
Forest, Nene Campus, Harrington Airfield and Castor
Hanglands.
Observations: The species
is probably more widely distributed than records suggest due to the
under working of its preferred habitat. Twelve caterpillars were found
feeding on mayweed on 18 July 2003 at Harrington Airfield; some of
the other records are also of caterpillars being found on chamomiles
and mayweeds. As they are quite conspicuous when large, just looking
at the foodplants in June or July could well yield further records.
Confusion Species: The Shark
L.O.N.: 1906.
Near Kettering, Blatherwycke. Scarce.
First Record: 1882,
Hull & Tomalin.
