  Golden-rod Brindle Xylena solidaginis

B&F: 2233

ABH: 73.207

Status:  Unknown

Distribution and Abundance: Rare - no modern records

Primary Habitat:  Open woodlands, heathland

Flight Period:  Single brooded in August and September

Observations: One single record on 1st September 1954 to a garden light trap on the border with Leicestershire (VC55). The recorder, Henry Buckler, was a very experienced Lepidopterist with a significant reputation in VC55. The record was published in the entomological literature (The Entomologist's Record, Vol 67, pp 63-64 - see image) shortly after the capture but only came to the attention of the VC32 CMR in 2018. The record is accepted based on that publication, and on Buckler's exceptional reputation, given also that he would have seen the moth in Leicestershire, where it has a known resident population.

L.O.N.: N/A

First Record:  1954, Buckler
