  Dark Brocade Mniotype adusta

B&F: 2250

ABH: 73.238

Status: Resident.

Distribution and Abundance: Local.

Primary Habitat: General occurrence.

Flight Period: Single brooded in June and July.

Localities: Cold Oak Copse, Ringstead, Wittering Copse and Castor Hanglands.

Observations: The best-known site for the moth in the county is on the limestone grassland at Collyweston Quarry where in the past it has been fairly common at m.v. light. In 2004 during the moths’ flight period the quarry was unsuccessfully trapped for this species. This lack of success along with a general slowing down in records suggests that the species is becoming less common in Northamptonshire

Confusion Species: Cabbage, Dusky Brocade

L.O.N.: 1903. Earls Barton, Overstone.

First Record: 1882, Hull & Tomalin.
