  Large Ranunculus Polymixis flavicincta

B&F: 2252

ABH: 73.237

Status: Resident.

Distribution and Abundance: Local.

Primary Habitat: Gardens.

Flight Period: Single brooded in September and October.

Localities: Salcey Forest, Irchester Country Park, Geddington Chase and Bedford Purlieus.

Observations: Returns from the Pitsford Water static light traps over the last decade show that seven moths were recorded whereas a light trap running in a Woodnewton garden in 2009 attracted eighty-nine examples of the moth with forty-two in 2010. My own field records for the decade to 2010 show that I have only seen the moth once in 2002 and my general impression is that the species has become more local in recent years.

L.O.N.: 1907. Many localities. Common. At sugar etc.

First Record: 1863, Smith.
