Status: Resident.

Distribution and Abundance: Common.

Primary Habitat: Grassland.

Flight Period: Single brooded in September and October.

Observations: Dark forms of the moth predominate in most of the Northamptonshire populations that I have seen. The pale ochreous and intermediate forms seem to be fairly common and rufous forms rare. The moth can be very plentiful at light as in 2009 at the static Pitsford Water m.v. light traps where 305 examples were taken between 5 September 2009 and 29 October 2009.

L.O.N.: 1907. Many localities. Fairly common at sugar.
