Status: Resident.

Distribution and Abundance: Common.

Primary Habitat: Woodland.

Flight Period: Single brooded from May to August.

Observations: To my knowledge the melanic form ab. nigra has not been recorded in the county. In the past I have readily found larvae exposed on poplar leaves and the pupae under loose bark on poplars and willows especially along the River Ise.

Confusion Species: Sycamore

L.O.N.: 1907. Many localities. Rather common.
