Status: Resident.

Distribution and Abundance: Common.

Primary Habitat: Woodland.

Flight Period: Single brooded from June to August.

Observations: Following Wallis’s records below the species did not feature on Kettering lists until the advent of light trapping in the 1950’s. In more recent years the moth has been seen annually in small numbers at the Pitsford Water static m.v. light traps. The dark form ab. infuscata occurs in the county but is uncommon.

Confusion Species: Poplar Grey

L.O.N.: 1906. Wadenhoe, Northampton. Not common.

First Record: 1843, Whitwell.
