  Marbled Green Bryopsis muralis

B&F: 2295

ABH: 73.085

Status: Resident.

Distribution and Abundance: Rare.

Primary Habitat: Gardens.

Flight Period: Mainly recorded in July although recent moths were taken in August.

Record: 12 August 2011 Greatworth (T. Stokes).

Observations: Two moths were recorded at a garden m.v. light trap at Greatworth. Earlier records are as follows: - 26 September 1970 Grafton Park Wood (F. Adams), Wellingborough 1958, Kettering 1947 and 1948, Sutton Bassett 1946 and Gretton to 1945. The first Gretton record is dated 1936 and is endorsed, “Identification to be confirmed,” and subsequently, “Identification has been confirmed.” As the endorsements were made by Arthur Cooper and the recorder was Eustace Wallis there is no doubt as to the validity of the records. To my knowledge none of these moths are still in existence, but presumably would have been the Cambridgeshire form ab impar.

Confusion Species: Marbled Beauty

L.O.N.: Unrecorded.

First Record: 1882, Hull & Tomalin.
