Status: Resident.

Distribution and Abundance: Common.

Primary Habitat: Woodland.

Flight Period: Single brooded in June and July.

Observations: The species seems to be at its most common in Northamptonshire in damp woodlands with the form obscura predominating. Light trap records from a Woodnewton garden show the following records for the 2009 flight season, May - 6, June - 18 and July - 13. There are old records of the moth being seen at sugar and feeding at jasmine flowers.
