Status: Resident.

Distribution and Abundance: Common.

Primary Habitat: Grassland.

Flight Period: Single brooded in July and August.

Observations: The Fineshade Rothamsted light trap running in woodland in the 1990’s produced the following data:-
1993    22 July to 18 August      19
1994    24 July to 18 August      14
1995    12 July to   2 August      17
1996    28 July to 12 August      11
1997      8 July to 15 August      10
1998      9 Aug to 22 August       4
1999    25 July to   9 August      13.
The species is usually more plentiful away from woodland with the limestone grassland of Collyweston Quarry providing an optimum habitat.

L.O.N.: 1907. Many localities. Locally abundant.
