Status: Resident.

Distribution and Abundance: Fairly common.

Primary Habitat: Wetland.

Flight Period: Single brooded in August and September.

Observations: The full range of colour variants occur in the county. In my experience the female is seldom seen at light. Detailed records from the Fineshade Rothamsted light trap running in damp woodland for seven years in the 1990’s show the moth to have been seen in all years with an annual average of three moths and an overall flight period from 23 August to 13 October.
