B&F: 2352
ABH: 73.120
Status: Resident.
Distribution
and Abundance: Common.
Primary Habitat: Grassland.
Flight Period: Single
brooded in July and August.
Observations: The
moth can be especially common on the limestone grassland
of Collyweston Quarry. In sunny weather it can often be
seen by day feeding at, or at rest on the flower heads of
knapweed. It seems to have been somewhat elusive formerly
as it did not feature in the Kettering lists until 1921
and then was not seen again until 1945, on
blackberry bush at Bedford Purlieus.
First Record: 1843, Whitwell
