  Bulrush Wainscot Nonagria typhae

B&F: 2369

ABH: 73.136

Status: Resident.

Distribution and Abundance: Rather local.

Primary Habitat: Wetland.

Flight Period: Single brooded in August and September.

Localities: Yardley Chase, Wicksteed Park, Blatherwycke Lake and Castor Hanglands.

Observations: The pupae were very plentiful in the 1980’s in the stems of reedmace growing on the edge of a flooded disused quarry at Cranford. Although the moths are variable in their ochreous colouration I have never seen the darker form ab. fraterna in the county. Generally the species seems to be seen in small numbers at light.

L.O.N.: 1905. Faxton, Castle Ashby, Blatherwyck. Locally plentiful.

First Record: 1842, Clark.
