  Marbled White Spot Protodeltote pygarga

B&F: 2410

ABH: 73.024

Status: Resident.

Distribution and Abundance: Common

Primary Habitat: Woodland.

Flight Period: Single brooded from May into July.

Localities: Old Pastures, Brampton Wood, Wakerley Wood and Collyweston Great Wood.

Observations: Prior to the 1950’s there were few known localities for this species. It first appeared on Kettering lists in 1953 and is now well established locally. Due to its habit of resting conspicuously by day on tree trunks, if present it is unlikely to have been overlooked by earlier observers. It was first recorded at Geddington Chase in 1995 and is now regularly seen at light there and has also occasionally turned up in garden light traps.

L.O.N.: 1910. Bedford Purlieus. Undated, Farming Woods.

First Record: 1882, Hull & Tomalin.
