  Cream-bordered Green Pea Earias clorana

B&F: 2418

ABH: 74.011

Status:  Resident.

Distribution and Abundance:  Local.

Primary Habitat:  Wetland.

Flight Period:  Mainly single brooded in June and July, occasionally seen as a partial second brood in August.

Localities:  Ditchford lakes, Newton, Whitewater Reservoir and Belham Wood.

Observations:  Prior to m.v. light trapping there were no Northamptonshire records for this species. It is now widely distributed over north and mid Northants, occasionally well away from wetland. Even though some of these are possible breeding sites, where present it has at best been seen in moderate numbers at light. The SP98 record is of a caterpillar of the species which was beaten from osier at Boughton Park on 24 July 2004 and searches for the larva may be a way of increasing the known distribution of the species. The moth enjoyed a particularly good year in 2006 substantially increasing its range within the county.

L.O.N.:  Unrecorded.

First Record:  1951, Wellingborough, Gent.
