Status: Resident.

Distribution and Abundance: Common.

Primary Habitat: Woodland.

Flight Period: The number of broods varies from year to year with moths being seen as early as May and as late as October in some years.

Observations: Returns from the Pitsford Water m.v. light traps for the five years from 1999 - 2003 show the following increase in catches:- 1999 - 0, 2000 - 1, 2001 - 11, 2002 - 28 and 2003 - 174. The moth is sometimes very common flying at dusk in woodland as on 9 July 1988 at Castor Hanglands when it was swarming under the trees in the open woodland.
