Status: Resident. 

Distribution and Abundance: Common.

Primary Habitat: General occurrence.

Flight Period: Double brooded from June to October.

Observations: Although the species can be very common returns from the Fineshade Rothamsted light trap running in woodland in the 1990’s show considerable annual variations in abundance. Viz:-

Second brood moths are much smaller in size than those of the first brood.
